Corporates help administer $10m to GNS

US-based healthcare analytics provider GNS Healthcare closed a $10m series C round yesterday backed by a consortium including drug developer Celgene and Mitsui USA, a subsidiary of Japan-based conglomerate Mitsui.

Healthcare services conglomerate Cambia Health Solutions, healthcare provider Heritage Provider Network, real estate manager Alexandria Real Estate Equities and Gi Global Health Fund also contributed to the round.

Founded in 2000, GNS’s technology relies on machine learning to analyse patient data such as electronic medical records, genomics and pharmacy claims in order to help match drugs and treatments to individuals.

The money will help GNS accelerate the development of its new cloud-based big data platform, and follows $750,000 in debt financing secured in March 2015, according to a regulatory filing.

Cambia Health, Heritage Provider and Mitsui previously took part in the company’s $10m series B round in January 2014. GNS had already secured $9.9m in a 2013 series A round featuring Cambia Health and $5m in a 2012 seed round, according to regulatory filings.
