US-based LED sensor developer Sensity Systems raised $36m yesterday in a series C round led by networking equipment maker Cisco’s corporate venturing arm, Cisco Investments.
Lighting product manufacturer Acuity Brands, GE Ventures, which acts as industrial conglomerate General Electric’s corporate venturing unit, and commercial real estate company Simon Property Group’s investment arm, Simon Venture Group, also took part in the round.
Sensity’s Light Sensory Network technology embeds sensors into LED lighting that collect and analyse data on parking spots, monitor the environment and enhance public safety, among other functions.
The company will use the series C funding to further develop its platform and ecosystem, and to support global sales efforts.
Sensity has secured $74m in funding to date. Its earlier investors include investment firm Radar Partners and venture capital firms Almaz Capital, Mohr Davidow Ventures and Silver Creek Ventures.
