Singapore-based digital health software developer MClinica raised $6.3m in series A funding on Wednesday from investors including telecommunications companies Globe Telecom and Telkom Indonesia.
The telecom firms, which invested through respective subsidiaries Kickstart Ventures and MDI Ventures, were joined by Unitus Impact, which led the round and IMJ Investment Partners, the corporate venturing arm of digital agency IMJ Corporation, as well as Global Innovation Fund, Endeavor Catalyst and 500 Startups.
Founded in 2014, MClinica operates a platform that connects thousands of pharmacies across Southeast Asia, providing access to patient records and powering data-driven programs to improve patient affordability and treatment outcomes.
The software also enables governments to quickly generate and visualise real-time data that underpins policy decisions. The series A capital will support continued expansion efforts across the region.
MClinica had previously raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from IMJ Investment Partners, Kickstart Ventures and 500 Startups in 2014.
Nicko Widjaja, chief executive of MDI Ventures, said: “Telkom Indonesia, through Admedika and Telkomedika, have been working very closely with the government and healthcare industry to bring quality healthcare throughout the country. MClinica’s product and solution should fit nicely with these initiatives.
“Together we could introduce innovative business models that could allow for better quality healthcare while reducing the burden of the supporting ecosystem. We are excited to support MClinica market expansion to Indonesia as we are innovating how healthcare is managed in the country.”
