Cozi, a US-based company that operates an online organiser focussed on families, secured $3m in funding on Thursday. The investors were not disclosed but signatories on the filing included representatives from media and marketing company Gannett, an existing investor.
Gannett and Cozi launched a strategic partnership in February 2008, solidifying its investment as a participant in an $8.3m round four months later. Cozi has raised $23m in equity and $2.5m in debt financing since 2006, with backers also including venture capital (VC) and debt services company Hercules Technology Growth Capital and real estate and venture capital firm Benaroya Capital.
Founded in 2005, Cozi provides a free organiser that can be shared online between family members. The organiser incorporates a calendar and a journal, and can include a variety of customisable lists and reminders.
The investment comes just two months after Cozi announced that the number of new users signing up for the service doubled year-on-year up to November 2011. Cozi also launched partnerships with mobile networks T-Mobile and US Cellular.
