Crehana creates space for more series A cash

Peru-based remote education service provider Crehana has raised $17.5m in a series A round featuring Salesforce Ventures, the corporate venturing unit owned by enterprise software supplier Salesforce, Forbes reported yesterday.

Venture capital firm Mountain Nazca led the round, which included Endeavor Catalyst and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) vehicle. It brought the company’s overall funding to more than $23m.

Crehana offers graphic design, digital marketing, music and other professional e-learning courses on its platform. It graduated from Wayra Peru, a startup accelerator scheme operated by telecommunications firm Telefónica, in 2015, receiving $50,000 from the programme.

The company had secured $4.5m in the first tranche of the series A round in early 2019. It was led by investment adviser Acumen Latam Capital Partners and also featured Dila Capital, Mountain Nazca Mexico, Rethink Education and Howzat Partners.

Rethink Education had led a $900,000 round for Crehana in May 2017 that came four months after $750,000 in funding from Howzat and ClearlySo.
