US-based agricultural insurance provider Crop Pro Insurance has completed an $8m series A round that included insurance firm GuideOne Insurance.
Agricultural and life sciences technology-focused venture capital firm Finistere Ventures co-led the round with agribusiness and food VC fund Seed 2 Growth Ventures.
Crop Pro supplies crop insurance through a network of independent agents and also develops risk management software for farmers. It will use the funding to increase headcount and develop additional agricultural finance products.
Billy Rose, Crop Pro’s chairman, said: “Our vision is to help growers minimise risk by delivering proven insurance offerings and new risk management tools through our longstanding network of independent insurance agents.
Our investors have the right networks to put us at the nexus of agtech innovation in financial services. As agriculture continues to evolve, we want to empower farmers to use the current wave of advanced technologies to solve longstanding productivity challenges while helping them manage the financial risk.”
