US-based log management software developer Humio agreed to a $400m acquisition by cloud workload protection software producer CrowdStrike yesterday, providing an exit to computer manufacturer Dell.
CrowdStrike will pay the $400m primarily in cash, with a portion in the form of rollover equity awards in exchange for unvested Humio equity. The acquisition is expected to close in CrowdStrike’s first fiscal quarter of 2022 and is subject to customary conditions.
Founded in 2016, Humio has developed a cloud-based log management platform that allows clients to collect real-time data on events across their infrastructure in order to understand what is happening on complex networks and to detect issues such as downtime.
Dell Technologies Capital, the corporate venturing division of Dell, led a $20m series B round for Humio in March 2020.
The series B round also included Accel, which had led a $9m series A round in 2019 and taken part in a $2.8m seed round in 2017 together with West Hill Capital, unnamed family offices and angel investors.
