CurvaFix gets series B implant

US-based bone repair system developer CurvaFix completed a $10.8m series B round on Tuesday that included dental benefits provider Delta Dental Washington’s Seed Fund.

Investment adviser Sectoral Asset Management led the round, which also featured unnamed existing investors and board members. Michael Sjöström, a senior partner at Sectoral, will join CurvaFix’s board of directors along with Sectoral partner Marc-André Marcotte.

CurvaFix is working on implants designed to be strengthen the repair of fractures in curved bones. Its first product has secured clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration to treat pelvic fractures in patients experiencing orthopaedic trauma.

The company had previously received $2.5m in equity funding from undisclosed investors in June 2018, according to a securities filing. It identified Delta Dental Washington Seed Fund as an existing backer in the latest round.

Steve Dimmer, CurvaFix’s chief executive, said: “This financing validates our approach for developing a novel implantable device for curved bones beginning with pelvic trauma patients.”
