Cylus signs off on $12m series A

Cylus, an Israel-based developer of cybersecurity technology for railway systems, has received $12m in a series A round that featured engineering services firm Cyient and financial services provider SBI Group.

Venture capital firms Magma Venture Partners and Vertex Ventures co-led the round, which included Cerca Partners, GlenRock, FollowTheSeed, private investor Christian Kern and Cylus co-founder Zohar Zisapel.

Founded in 2017, Cylus provides a software platform that helps rail and metro systems identify attacks in the both the signalling and control networks, as well as trackside and onboard trains.

The series A proceeds will fund expansion in Europe, the US and Asia Pacific regions along with bolstering the company’s research and development initiatives and supporting strategic hires.

Cylus said it has now raised $17m in total funding, having previously secured $4.7m in a January 2018 seed round that included SBI Group, Magma Venture Partners, Vertex Ventures and Zohar Zisapel. It had not disclosed any earlier financing.
