Dable to deploy $12m from series C

Dable, a South Korea-based content discovery platform backed by payment services provider NHN Payco and electronics manufacturer Samsung, has secured $12m in series C funding from investors including internet group Kakao.

Venture capital and private equity firm SV Investment led the round, which included VC firm K2 Investment Partners, while Kakao invested through corporate VC unit Kakao Ventures. The round valued Dable at over $90m and increased its total funding to over $20m.

Founded in 2015, Dable has developed a content discovery platform that recommends personalised content such as media, online shopping, blogs and apps to its users. The company said it recommends its content to 500 million users a month, translating to 100 million clicks per month.

Dable will use the funding to promote its brand in Asia and plans to offer its services in all Asian countries by 2024. It plans to begin operations in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, China, Australia and Turkey later this year.

Kakao Ventures and SK Planet, an e-commerce subsidiary of telecommunications firm SK Telecom, supplied an undisclosed amount of funding for the company’s 2015 seed round.

Investors including Kakao Ventures and Stonebridge Capital provided an undisclosed amount of series A funding for Dable the following year. It raised $5.4m in a series B round featuring NHN Payco, Samsung subsidiary Samsung Ventures and DSC Investment in 2018.
