Wayra, the accelerator subsidiary of telecommunications firm Telefónica, has exited Mexico-based online shared accommodation portal Dada Room in an acquisition of undisclosed size by US-headquartered counterpart Roomi, Entrepreneur has reported.
Founded in 2012, Dada operates an online platform that allows users in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru to find housemates or shared houses. The deal will enable Roomi to double the size of its user base, according to Entrepeneur.
The company had not disclosed precisely how much funding it had raised prior to the acquisition, but it was a graduate of both Wayra Mexico and the Chilean government-backed Start-Up Chile accelerator.
