Daily Deal Round Up: 13 December, 2021

Indonesia-based insurance technology provider Fuse raised $25m in an extension to its series B round backed by media and telecommunications conglomerate Emtek and Alibaba-backed eWTP. East Ventures and GGV Capital filled out the round.

Next47, a corporate venturing vehicle for industrial equipment and appliance producer Siemens, took part in a $15m series A round for US-based software development operations platform Software, investing alongside venture capital firm 8VC.

Blockchain technology developer Animoca Brands and e-commerce company Bukalapak participated in a $15m round in Philippines-based play-to-earn games sub-decentralised autonomous organisation Yield Guild Games Southeast Asia (YGG SEA), Tech in Asia has reported.

Computing technology producer Microsoft invested through its corporate venturing unit M12 into $13m across two rounds for US-based B2B grocery marketplace Pod Foods. Moment Ventures also took part in the round alongside unnamed others.

Pharmaceutical firm Bayer’s impact investment unit Leaps by Bayer co-led a $12m series A round into US-based neurological disease treatment developer Bloom Science with ALS Investment Fund. Apollo Health Ventures and Joyance Partners.

Japan-based renewable electricity trading platform Digital Grid raised over $11.6m in funding from shipping group Mitsui OSK Lines’ corporate venturing unit MOL Plus.

US-based immuno-oncology treatment developer OncoPep raised $11m in series D funding co-led by pharmaceutical firm Kukje Pharma and industrial components manufacturer Tera Science. Pharmaceutical firm CrystalBioScience and SX Company also participated.

Game studio Epic Games and electronics manufacturer Samsung’s Samsung Next subsidiary backed a $9m series A round Wonder Dynamics, a US-based developer of metaverse and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for movie tools. Horizons Ventures led the round, which also featured Founders Fund and MaC Venture Capital.

Japan-based solar energy provider Clean Energy Connect raised $8.3m from trading firm Itochu, renewable energy producer Eco Style and Energy and Environmental Bank.

Real estate investment trust Alexandria Real Estate Equities’ corporate venturing unit Alexandria Venture Investments participated in a $7.9m funding round for immune organoid drug development platform NextVivo as it came out of stealth. Khosla Ventures led the round, which also included law firm Wilson Sonsini and unnamed individual investors.

Spain-based lending and payments platform FonYou has secured €7m ($7.9m) in growth funding from financial services firm Santander’s Smart Fund.

Software development company Turing Technology Group led $5m in seed funding for UK-based AI cybersecurity technology developer CyberQ Technologies.

Automotive manufacturer BMW’s corporate venturing unit BWM i Ventures led a seed round of unknown size into Rapid Liquid Print, a US-based make of 3D printers for elastomers, alongside insurance firm Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company’s MM Catalyst Fund.

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase’s corporate venturing unit Coinbase Ventures, blockchain technology developer Polygon and quantitative trading firm Alameda Research-backed $4.1m in seed funding for Singapore-based decentralised exchange Router Protocol, TechCrunch has reported. The round was filled out by De-Fi Capital, Shima Capital, Maple Block, TeraSurge Capital, QCP, Woodstock, Wintermute and Wami Capital.

Anur Cloud Technologies, an India-based customer identity verification technology provider, received an undisclosed amount of seed funding from insurance provider AIG Direct.
