Funding

US-based workplace connected apps platform Airtable raised $735m in series F funding backed by enterprise software provider Salesforce’s corporate venturing subsidiary Salesforce Ventures, taking its valuation to $11bn. XN led the round, which also included Franklin Templeton, JP Morgan’s Growth Equity Partners unit, MSD Capital, Silver Lake, funds and accounts advised by T Rowe Price Associates, Benchmark, Caffeinated Capital, Iconiq Growth, Coatue Management, Thrive Capital, D1 Capital Partners and Greenoaks.

US-based healthcare insurance technology platform HealthCare.com raised $180m in series C equity and debt from investors including insurance provider Axis Capital. Second Alpha, Link Ventures and the company’s founders also took part.

E-commerce platform Alibaba led a $100m series B round into China-based food and grocery retail chain T11, 36Kr has reported. MSA Capital and Redview Capital filled out the round.

Emergence Therapeutics, a Germany-based immuno-oncology treatment developer, secured €87m ($98.5m) in a series A round featuring state-owned investment bank BPIfrance through its InnoBio 2 Fund. Pontifax Venture Capital led the round, which included RA Capital Management, OrbiMed Advisors, Surveyor Capital, Hadean Ventures, Kurma Partners, NRW.BANK, High-Tech Gründerfonds and Gründerfonds Ruhr.

US-based artificial intelligence healthcare voice tool developer Suki secured $55m in series C funding from electronics manufacturer Philips’s corporate venturing subsidiary Philips Ventures. March Capital led the round, investing alongside Venrock, Flare Capital, Breyer Capital, Gaingels Group, inHealth Ventures, Pankaj Patel, Andrew Deutsch and Russell Farscht.

GitGuardian, a France-based security provider for coding, raised $44m in a series B round featuring state-owned investment bank BPIfrance. Eurazeo and Sapphire Ventures co-led the round, which featured Balderton and Fly Ventures.

China-based autonomous robotics technology producer ForwardX Robotics closed an initial $31m tranche of its series C round led by insurance provider Taikang Insurance and featuring chipmaker Qualcomm’s corporate venturing unit Qualcomm Ventures, TechCrunch has reported. Starlight Capital filled out the round.

India-based sports nutrition supplements producer Fullife Healthcare secured $22m in series C funding from investment bank Morgan Stanley’s Private Equity Asia arm.

Nuvocargo, a US-based logistics platform focused on trade between Mexico and the United States, raised $20.5m in a funding round featuring freight forwarder Flexport through The Flexport Fund. Tiger Global Management led the round, valuing the company at $180m, investing alongside NFX, QED Investors and private investor Federico Ranero.

Healthy ageing medicine developer Rejuveron Life Sciences provided a $20m extension to Switzerland-based neurodegenerative disease therapeutics developer Endogena’s $29m series A round, after having also contributed to the initial $8m tranche in January this year.

Electronics manufacturer Sony’s Innovation Fund took part in a $17m series B round for Mightier, a US-based developer of video games that help children with their emotional health. DigiTx Partners led the round, which also features PBJ Capital.

Israel-based healthcare artificial intelligence platform Lynx MD raised $12m in a seed round that included software company Amdocs and insurance provider New York Life’s corporate venturing unit New York Life Ventures. MizMaa Ventures led the round, with Triventures, UpWest, iAngels and unnamed individuals also investing.

Bumper, a UK-based payment platform for automotive repairs and services, raised $12m in a series A round featuring InMotion Ventures and Porsche Ventures, respective subsidiaries of automotive manufacturers Jaguar Land Rover and Porsche. Autotech Ventures led the round, which included unnamed angel investors.

Healthcare provider UnityPoint Health’s investment subsidiary UnityPoint Health Ventures backed an $11.5m funding round for US-based healthcare workforce optimisation software platform Prolucent Health. SpringTide Ventures and Health Velocity Capital co-led the round.

Frameplay, a US-based in-game advertising provider, hauled in $8m in a series A round featuring gaming equipment maker Razer’s corporate venturing unit zVentures. Hiro Capital led the round, with participation from Kona Venture Partners.

Military credit union PenFed backed an $8m growth funding round for Sandboxx, a US-based mail delivery and connection service for members of the military and their families, through its foundation. Boathouse Capital led the round, which was filled out by undisclosed other investors.

Factor, a US-based “first-mile” supply chain services provider raised $6m in seed funding from internet technology provider Google’s artificial intelligence investment subsidiary Gradient Ventures. Xfund, Afore and South Park Commons also participated in the funding.

Germany-headquartered virtual and augmented reality technology developer Holo-Light raised a $6m funding round featuring energy suppliers EnBW and E.ON’s respective corporate venturing units EnBW New Ventures and Future Energy Ventures, which invested together with Bayern Kapital.

US-based collaborative whiteboard software provider Allo secured $5m in pre-series A funding from video conferencing platform Zoom. The round was filled out by Atinum Investment, Partners Investment, Smilegate Investment and Ascendo Ventures.

Overflow, the Japan-based operator of career change platform Offers, has raised ¥300m ($2.6m) in a series A round backed by mobile game publisher Akatsuki’s Heart Driven Fund, and it was joined by FFG Venture Business Partners and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital, respective subsidiaries of financial services firms Fukuoka Financial Group and Mitsubishi UFJ, as well as VC firm DNX Ventures.

Oil and gas producer BP invested £2m ($2.6m) in UK-based energy software-as-a-service provider Grid Edge through its corporate venturing unit BP Ventures. Goldacre and Aston University also participated.

Japan-based international trade’s sales quote digitalisation service JapanFuse has raised ¥75m ($660,000) in seed funding featuring mobile game publisher KLab’s Anobaka subsidiary and All Star SaaS Fund.

Mining company Altius Minerals Corporation has made a strategic investment of undisclosed size in Canada-based carbon reduction company The Net Zero Company.

Caravana, a China-based owner of Japan-focused media platform LadyX that is a joint venture between advertising group Daiko Advertising and childcare video producer Onedot, has secured an undisclosed amount of funding from broadcaster Asahi Broadcasting Group.

Enterprise software provider Workday made a strategic investment of undisclosed size in workplace incentive compensation management software provider CaptivateIQ through its corporate venturing unit Workday Ventures.

 

M&A

Cybersecurity software provider Avast acquired US-based personal data protection software provider Evernym, marking an exit for financial services provider Barclays.

US-based parental control management software provider Circle Media Labs, which counts mobile network operator T-Mobile and networking technology producer NetGear among its investors, has been acquired by consumer digital security provider Aura.

Lender comparison platform Credible has acquired digital insurance marketplace Young Alfred for an undisclosed sum, allowing internet technology producer Google’s Gradient Ventures unit to exit.
