Japan-headquartered advanced materials producer Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group (MCHG) has teamed up with innovation platform Plug and Play Japan to form a startup challenge scheme dubbed Tanamin Digital Health Challenge, which will be formally launched in July this year. MCHG and Plug and Play Japan will accept submissions from digital healthcare technology developers working on areas including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patient treatment, decentralised clinical trial digitalisation and preventative vaccination development. Finalists will have the opportunity to conduct a proof of concept with MCHG, pursue a long-term collaboration with its Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma unit and receive funding from MCHG’s venture department in Japan and its US-based Diamond Edge Ventures vehicle.
Japan-based automotive components manufacturer Toyota Boshoku’s president and chief executive, Masayoshi Shirayanagi, told Nikkan yesterday the firm intends to form a corporate venturing vehicle in a bid to help electrify the automotive industry.
