Issam Dairanieh, who left corporate venturing unit BP Ventures last month, has taken a position as CEO of carbon capture research and development organisation Global CO2 Initiative.
Dairanieh left oil and gas company BP after joining in 1998 and had been managing director of BP Ventures since 2011. He ranked 21st on Global Corporate Venturing’s last Powerlist, in 2014.
Global CO2 Initiative aims to grant up to $100m per year for carbon capture research over the next decade. It also plans to help commercialise CO²-based products and services, funding them alongside corporate investors, investment funds and joint ventures.
