Darkstore, a US-based same-day delivery fulfillment provider that counts advertising agency R/GA as an investor, has received $21m in a series B round led by venture capital fund EQT Ventures, TechCrunch has reported.
Founded in 2017, Darkstore runs a delivery fulfilment service enabling enterprise clients such as e-commerce brands to dispatch goods to their customers, with the option of expedited 24-hour and one-hour delivery windows.
Darkstore will use the series B funding to expand its workforce and management team. It generates revenue through separate fees covering the storage, preparation and delivery of each item.
Laura Yao, principal at EQT Ventures, a branch of investment firm EQT Partners, will join the company’s board of directors in connection with the round, which brought Darkstore’s overall funding to more than $30m according to TechCrunch.
R/GA supplied Darkstore with $120,000 in 2016 through its R/GA Ventures unit, before it secured $1.4m in a 2017 seed round featuring venture capital firm PivotNorth Capital.
PivotNorth also led Darkstore’s $7.5m series A round in January 2019, investing alongside Cota Capital, Village Global, s356Fund and Firebolt Ventures.
