Data Artisans crafts Intel-led series A

Intel Capital, the corporate venturing arm of semiconductor maker Intel, has led a €5.5m ($6.3m) series A round for Germany-based data analysis technology developer Data Artisans.

Tengelmann Ventures, the investment subsidiary of retail chain Tengelmann, also contributed to the round, as did venture capital firm B-to-V Partners, which participated as an existing investor. The funding lifted Data Artisans’ total funding to $7.3m.

Data Artisans is working on data processing technology focused on Apache Flink, an open source framework that developers can use to get real-time insights from large volumes of data.

The round will be invested in building up support for Flink users and the development of products based on the technology. Erik Jorgensen, director at Intel Capital, will join the company’s board of directors.
