Singapore-based data security product developer Dathena has received $12m in series A funding from investors including MS&AD Ventures, a corporate venturing subsidiary of insurance firm MS&AD Holdings.
Venture capital firm Jungle Ventures led the round, which also featured venture capital firm CerraCap Ventures, VC fund CapHorn and Seeds Capital, a subsidiary of Singaporean business promotion board Enterprise Singapore.
Dathena has created data privacy compliance software that uses artificial intelligence to inspect information held across local data servers and cloud-based repositories.
The product has more than 200,000 customers and is intended to help businesses comply with increased data privacy requirements in markets such as the European Union and the US state of California.
The series A cash will support a partnership between Dathena and software provider Microsoft in addition to research and development activities and recruitment of sales, marketing and customer support staff.
Dathena raised an undisclosed amount in a late 2018 pre-series A round led by CerraCap Ventures and backed by investment firm and existing backer Demetis. Both returned for a round of undisclosed size led by MS&AD Ventures in March 2019.
