Enterprise software producer Rubrik agreed yesterday to acquire US-based data management software provider Datos IO for an undisclosed sum, in a deal that will give an exit to networking technology provider Cisco.
Founded in 2014, Datos has built an application data management platform called RecoverX that enterprises can use for backup and recovery across private, public and hybrid clouds.
The company will henceforth operate as a Rubrik subsidiary known as Rubrik Datos IO. It will be led by Rubrik co-founder and CEO Tarun Thakur and will utilise dedicated engineering, sales and support staff.
Cisco’s corporate venturing subsidiary, Cisco Investments, joined data storage and management software provider NetApp to invest an undisclosed amount in Datos in May 2017.
Datos had previously raised approximately $15.3m in funding, $2.75m of which came in a 2014 seed round led by VC firm True Ventures. It added $12.5m in series A funding from True Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, CrunchFund and unnamed angel investors the following year.
