US-based cybersecurity company DB Networks has secured $17m in a series C round backed by investors including Citi Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of financial services firm Citigroup.
Grotech Ventures led the round, which also featured Khosla Ventures. Khosla previously backed DB’s $4.5m series B round in January 2013.
DB Networks gives companies insight into the security of their databases by monitoring for abnormal behaviours and helping the companies take proactive steps to prevent data breaches.
The company’s clients span a wide range of sectors including financial institutions, healthcare providers, government agencies and the military.
Ramneek Gupta, managing director for investing at Citi Ventures, said: “DB Networks has built a powerful behavioural intrusion detection capability, and we are excited about partnering with the team to further its application and potential.”
