Kurt DelBene, who spent over 20 years at software company Microsoft, has joined venture capital firm Madrona Venture Group as a venture partner.
In the new role DelBene will help identify new investments with Madrona portfolio companies on strategic and operational initiatives.
“Washington state is a hub of technology talent and innovation and Madrona is a key player in the ecosystem,” said DelBene. “I’m honoured to work with the team here and with the portfolio companies who are changing how we work and live.”
Prior to joining Madrona, DelBene was serving as a senior advisor to the Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services, working on improving the government’s online health insurance enrollment scheme.
During his 22 years with Microsoft, DelBene was president of the Microsoft Office Division for three years, and also served as corporate vice president of Office Business Platform Group, among other roles.
