China-based 3D computer vision technology developer Deptrum has collected $15m in a series A round co-led by Softbank China Venture Capital, a subsidiary of telecommunication firm SoftBank.
Family office Wu Capital co-led the round, which also featured Beijing ChinaEquity Investment, Northern Light Venture Capital and Green Pine Capital Partners.
Founded in April 2018, Deptrum has developed a 3D computer vision platform powered by data algorithms and nanophotonics that automatically interprets 3D visual information for applications such as virtual reality consoles, robots and intelligent computer terminals.
The series A cash will go to the mass production of goods based on Deptrum’s technology, with an initial focus on advanced computer terminal, retail and smart community systems. Deptrum will also beef up its marketing and research and development teams.
The company collected a seven-figure dollar sum in a May 2018 angel round led by Northern Light Venture Capital, before Green Pine Capital Partners led a pre-series A round of undisclosed size the following month, according to China Money Network.
