Deustche Telekom tracks Nomad Digital exit

Power and automation group Alstom has agreed to acquire UK-based rail connectivity technology producer Nomad Digital from a group including telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom’s Strategic Investments unit.

The investor consortium also includes SEB Venture Capital, the venture capital arm of financial services firm SEB, and private equity firm Amadeus Capital Partners. The price paid by Alstom has not been disclosed.

Founded in 2002, Nomad Digital provides connectivity technology such as passenger wifi and information systems, and advanced maintenance technology to the railway industry. It serves more than 80 rail companies across 40 countries.

Nomad Digital raised £14.5m ($17.8m at current rates) in debt and equity in 2008, including £6m from Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile Venture Fund, SEB Venture Capital, Amadeus Capital Partners and NorthStar Equity Investors.

Deutsche Telekom Strategic Investments, Amadeus Capital Partners and SEB Venture Capital added £4m in equity funding in November 2015.
