US-based cloud services provider Numecent secured $15.5m in series B funding on Tuesday from investors including telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom, which contributed $4.5m.
The rest of the capital was supplied by undisclosed European industrialists, family offices and private equity firms, and increased the company’s overall funding to $38m.
Numecent’s has built a client-side containerisation and virtualisation platform using ‘cloudpaging’ technology that can rapidly and securely provision any Microsoft Windows application from the cloud.
Deutsche Telekom previously provided $13.6m in series B capital for Numecent in 2013 through its T-Venture unit, after the company had raised seed and series A capital from undisclosed backers.
Vicente Vento, chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Telekom Strategic Investments, said: “Numecent is on a good trajectory and is receiving traction from major players in the industry.
“This traction validates the view that cloudpaging is potentially transformative not only for IT, but also for emerging sectors like [internet of things].”
