US-based cloud security company Armor5 has been acquired by secure data company Digital Guardian for an undisclosed amount, providing an exit to networking technology company Citrix’s corporate venturing unit, Citrix Startup Accelerator.
Armor5 provides cloud-based control services that secure mobile access to enterprise data and applications in orrder to prevent people copying or corrupting company files using their own devices.
Digital Guardian, which until August was known as Verdasys, is an enterprise software company which protects sensitive data from both insider and outsider threats. The acquisition will help support Digital Guardian as it looks to begin securing data on mobile devices.
Armor5, which was founded in 2011, raised $2m in a seed round in February 2013 from Citrix Startup Accelerator, Nexus Venture Partners, Trinity Ventures Jayaram Bhat and Mohana Velagapudi.
In January this year Armor5 partnered with Japan-based telecommunications company Softbank to release its software.
