Salesforce Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of enterprise software developer Salesforce, has invested in UK-based customer service enhancement developer DigitalGenius as part of its $14.8m series A round.
Global Founders Capital led the round, which also featured Paua Ventures, Kairos Ventures, Runa Capital, Spider Capital, RRE Ventures, Lumia Capital, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, MMC Ventures and Compound VC.
DigitalGenius has created a machine learning-based customer service platform that integrates with customers’ instant messaging services to predict the best approach and response to enquiries. It is compatible with Salesforce’s customer relationship management software.
Proceeds from the round, which took the overall funding raised by DigitalGenius to $26m according to the company, will be used for product development, and to expand its commercial activities.
Salesforce Ventures had previously joined investors including Bloomberg Beta and Novel TMT, corporate venturing vehicles for media group Bloomberg and telecommunications company Novel Group, for the company’s $4.1m seed round in April 2016.
Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Lowercase Capital, Metamorphic Ventures, RRE Ventures, Singularity Investments and Spider Capital also backed the round, which followed $3m from Compound, Lerer Hippeau, Lowercase, Lumia, RRE and an undisclosed angel investor the previous year.
