Dijit Media, a US-based maker of the NextGuide iPad application for television, is in the process of acquiring quasi-competitor GoMiso, backed by search engine Google and media group Hearst.
Jeremy Toeman, chief executive of Dijit, said: “We’ve built the most powerful TV guide and discovery platform for consumers and the TV industry alike, and this acquisition will give us more tools to give our users a guide experience that redefines how people discover content.”
Hearst Interactive Media and Google Ventures were involved in a $4m funding round for GoMiso in December 2011.
The round was led by venture firm Khosla Ventures and it took the total raised by GoMiso to $6m.
