BP Launchpad, the open innovation subsidiary of UK-headquartered petroleum producer BP, has hired Sophie Dingreville as chief investment officer.
Dingreville had previously led European investments for Munich Re Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of reinsurance firm Munich Re, as investment director from 2017 to October 2021, specialising in cybersecurity and insurance technology.
Prior to entering corporate venturing, Dingreville had been a general partner at France-based Iris Capital and a partner at fellow VC firm C4 Capital.
Formed by BP in 2018, Launchpad is the corporate’s in-house accelerator, investing in and acquiring startups working on digital technologies which could help transform the global energy sector.
The unit has built up a seven-strong portfolio that includes Blueprint Power, the energy distribution technology developer acquired by BP in October 2021, and Finite Carbon, the carbon offset project facilitator in which its parent bought a majority stake in late 2020.
