AI.Accelerator, an artificial intelligence (AI)-focused incubator and accelerator operated by Japan-based human resources firm DIP Corporation, has selected six startups for its 13th cohort.
The finalists in question include AI training course producer Avilen, DeepEye Vision, an ophthalmic diagnostic imaging service provider spun out of Jichi Medical University, and Cognirobo, the developer of a marketing data analysis system.
The list was filled out by marketing improvement tool provider LeanGo, advertisement technology developer SP and TDai Lab, a University of Tokyo spinout developing a data-driven review credibility verifier.
DIP created a business development division called DIP AI.Lab in 2016 to oversee AI-focused media content producer AINow. It also monitors AI.Accelerator, which was formed the following year.
A total of 89 startups have participated in AI.Accelerator across 13 batches, having been chosen from more than 700 applications. The scheme’s advisers consist of 30 AI specialists and entrepreneurs and it has partnered 35 firms.
Out of the participants, 71 graduates have received funding from investors and begun commercialisation of their products.
Some startups have also participated in other accelerators, such as Google for Startups Accelerator, Techstars and Zeroth.ai, while others have exited through merger and acquisition transactions.
Each company will have the chance of receiving between ¥5m ($45,000) and ¥100m ($915,000) in funding from DIP. AI.Accelerator is also accepting applications until August 31 for the 14th edition, which will run from September to November this year.
