Health services provider Optum led a series C round for US-based home healthcare technology provider DispatchHealth yesterday that was sized at almost $136m, investing through corporate venturing unit Optum Ventures.
Echo Health Ventures, the joint venture for healthcare services provider Cambia Health Solutions and investment firm Mosaic Health Solutions, also took part in the round, as did health insurance provider Humana, Alta Partners, Questa Capital, Oak HC/FT and unnamed strategic investors.
DispatchHealth provides on-demand acute and emergency home care for patients with complex illnesses or injuries on behalf of partners including health systems and health insurers. The model involves transferring skillsets generally found in hospitals to the home sphere.
The series C funding will help DispatchHealth expand its services as it looks to grow in its existing markets and move into new ones.
The company’s overall funding now stands at approximately $199m. Echo Health Ventures led its last round, a $33m round in May 2019 that also featured Questa Capital and Alta Partners.
The latter two had previously co-led a $30.8m round for DispatchHealth two years earlier, investing together with hospital owner Acute Care Solutions.
Optum Ventures managing partner Larry C. Renfro said: “DispatchHealth is extending healthcare beyond traditional facilities to the most accessible environment of all: the patient’s home. We are excited to continue partnering with DispatchHealth to drive value and outcomes for the industry.”
