Drift, a US-based marketing and sales platform developer backed by inbound marketing software producer HubSpot, raised $60m yesterday in a series C round led by venture capital firm Sequoia Capital.
Venture capital firms CRV and General Catalyst also participated in the round, which increased the company’s overall funding to $107m.
Founded in 2014, Drift has developed a software platform that uses artificial intelligence bots to chat with prospective customers. It identifies the best leads, allocates them to the most suitable team member and automatically books a sales meeting.
The company said it has attracted more than 100,000 clients to date. It will use the funding to quadruple its office space by opening new locations in the cities of Boston, where it is headquartered, and San Francisco.
General Catalyst led Drift’s $32m series B round in September 2017, investing together with HubSpot, CRV and Sequoia Capital.
HubSpot had already contributed to the company’s $15m series A round in 2015 alongside General Catalyst, CRV, VC firms NextView Ventures and Founder Collective, and angel investor Brian Shin.
