DroneDeploy, a US-based developer of a data analytics platform for drones backed by energy company Invenergy, closed a $35m series D round on Wednesday led by venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners.
The deal also included venture capital fund Energize Ventures and VC firms AirTree Ventures, Emergence Capital, Scale Venture Partners and Uncork Capital.
Founded in 2013, DroneDeploy provides software used by industry clients to analyse information collected from drones and aerial sources.
In addition to analysis, DroneDeploy’s software offers imagery and 3D modelling across any device. Target applications include agriculture, mining, construction and surveying.
The round brought DroneDeploy’s overall funding to $90m and will go to international expansion, new product launches and entering new industries. Tracy Young, co-founder and former CEO of construction planning software developer PlanGrid, has joined the board of directors.
Invenergy Future Fund, the strategic investment fund launched by Invenergy, led DroneDeploy’s last round, a $25m series C in June 2018 backed by AirTree, Scale Venture Partners, Uncork Capital, Emergence Capital and AngelPad.
DroneDeploy had previously collected $20m of series B capital from Scale Venture Partners and High Alpha in 2016, after a $9m series A round the previous year led by Emergence Capital with backing from AngelPad, SoftTech and Data Collective.
