Semiconductor and data technology provider Intel has exited US-based 3D audio system developer Dysonics in an acquisition of undisclosed size by internet technology provider Google in December 2020, Protocol has reported.
Dysonics has developed spatial sound technology that would facilitate the recreation of three-dimensional surround sound through headphones. It was spun out of University of California, Davis’s Technology Incubator in 2012.
The company raised $750,000 from investors including Rawah Partners in 2012, and $420,000 the following year according to a securities filing. Intel subsidiary Intel Capital led a series A round of undisclosed size for the company in 2016 that also featured Rawah Partners.
