Broadband access infrastructure provider DZS has acquired US-based cloud network orchestration and automation software provider Rift for an undisclosed amount, enabling semiconductor producer Intel to exit.
Rift’s software enables companies to develop and deploy network applications and virtual network functions on cloud-based infrastructure. DZS purchased the company to bolster its recently launched portfolio of cloud-based software products.
DZS president and CEO Charlie Vogt said: “The trend toward cloud and open software solutions is undeniable and with the acquisition of Rift, DZS accelerates its vision and strategy to deliver and manage intelligent network and processing functions at the network edge.”
Venture capital firm North Bridge Venture Partners led a $16m series A round for the company in 2015 that included undisclosed strategic investors. Its website lists Intel subsidiary Intel Capital as an investor, and it joined Intel’s Network Builders programme in 2015.
