E.ON moves on AutoGrid

AutoGrid Systems, a US-based provider of energy grid management software, has raised $12.75m in series C financing from investors included Germany-based energy utility E.ON, and previous investors, venture capital firms Foundation Capital and Voyager Capital.

In October 2012, AutoGrid Systems raised $9m from Foundation Capital and Voyager Capital and Stanford University.

The new round of funding will support AutoGrid’s customer growth for its Energy Data Platform (EDP) as well as expand the suite of applications available on EDP for use by the energy industry.
“E.ON has an ambitious objective to make energy cleaner and better wherever we operate,” said Dr. Urban Keussen, Senior Vice President of Technology and Innovation at E.ON. “We are looking forward to deploying AutoGrid’s market leading big data analytics and cloud computing technologies across several of our businesses.”

Amit Narayan, director of Stanford’s Smart Grid program and a visiting professor at the university, and Shiva Swaminathan, a senior resource planner at City of Palo Alto Utilities, formed AutoGrid in 2011.
