Cassio Carvalho Pinto Vidigal, previously head of Portugal-based energy utility EDP’s corporate venturing arm, EDP Ventures, has joined Germany-headquartered financial services firm Deutsche Bank as Brazil-based head of global subsidiary coverage.
Vidigal joined EDP subsidiary EDP Brasil as executive manager in 2013 to handle the group’s capital structuring in Brazil and manage cash flow, before he was promoted to run its then-nascent EDP Ventures unit in May 2018.
EDP Ventures has been relatively active recently, investing in infrastructure maintenance software developer Presenso and cybersecurity software creator Sepio Systems last month, forming a strategic alliance with the latter.
Prior to coming to EDP, Vidigal had spent a year as a Brazil-based senior trader for food provider and commodities trader Cargill, overseeing structure finance operations. He had previously been director of corporate banking at financial services firm BNP Paribas for a decade.
Vidigal told Global Corporate Venturing that he considered the return to the banking world a great challenge, adding that former strategy and innovation executive manager Livia Brando had been promoted to interim head of EDP Ventures while investment manager Rosario Cannata would continue in his role.
