Elghandour joins JJDC’s Nevro

Rami Elghandour (pictured) has moved from healthcare company Johnson & Johnson’s corporate venturing unit to one of its portfolio companies as head of strategy and business development.

Elghandour had been a principal at Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation (JJDC) for four years and would join Nevro, which makes medical devices to treat chronic pain and other neurological disorders, according to news provider Fortune.

Elghandour helped lead JJDC’s series B investment in Nevro.

In July last years, JJDC led the $58m round for Nevro, which also included existing corporate backer Mayo Clinic, a US-based medical company, and venture capital firms Aberdare Ventures, Accuitive Medical Ventures, Bay City Capital, MPM Capital and Three Arch Partners.

Separately, Fortune said Wei Zhang had stepped down as a principal of life sciences investing with US-listed Safeguard Scientifics, in order to join one of its portfolio companies, Good Start Genetics, as head of corporate development.
