Australia-based human resources technology developer Employment Hero has closed an A$8m ($6.1m) round co-led by recruitment portal operator Seek, Australian Financial Review has reported.
Venture capital firm OneVentures co-led the round with Seek, while financial services firm AMP and VC firm AirTree Venture Capital also contributed funding.
Founded in 2014, Employment Hero operates a human resources software platform that can set up job offers and employment contracts. The basic platform is free but business clients must pay extra for administrative tasks such as medical disclosures and performance reviews.
Employment Hero will use the capital for research and development and managerial appointments, having recently recruited Cat Prestipino, formerly marketing director of e-commerce marketing platform AdRoll, as chief marketing officer.
AMP’s now-defunct AMP New Ventures unit took part in Employment Hero’s $3.2m series A round, collected across tranches in June and November 2016, together with AirTree and VC firm OneVentures.
Ben Thompson, co-founder and CEO of Employment Hero, said: “This raise means we can go after our goals even more aggressively. To put it simply, we aim to permanently improve the way that employment is managed by bringing it into the 21st century.”
“[Seek wants] to make the start of the employment process – recruitment – more fulfilling and productive and we focus on making everything past the point of recruitment easier and more rewarding.”
