EP Map System charts $25m series A

Germany-based medical device maker EP Map System closed a $25m series A round on Monday led by medtech company builder Ajax Health.

Founded in 2014, EP Map System has created technologies for electrophysiology procedures, which measure the heart’s electrical activity to diagnose arrythmia. Its products include a 3D mapping and navigation tool as well as an ablation system, used to correct abnormal heartbeats.

The series A capital will go towards further technology development and commercialisation in the US. The company already secured regulatory approval in the EU three years ago.

Doug Koo, chief financial officer at Ajax Health, has been appointed in the same position as well as managing director at EP Map, at EP Map System. Other, unnamed representatives of Ajax have also joined the company’s management team.

Manfred Piechura, founder and CEO of EP Map, said: “We started EP Map in 2014 with the goal of creating a modern, easy to use electrophysiology system that can be used by hospitals around the world to provide state of the art care to their patients.

“I am thrilled to partner with Ajax on this next step in the company’s life and to bring the Ajax team’s expertise into EP Map.”
