US-based financial app development platform Episode Six received $30m in series B funding yesterday from investors including payment services firm Mastercard and financial services firms HSBC and SBI.
Investment firm Anthos Capital also contributed to the round, which lifted the company’s overall funding to $40m, while SBI participated through venture capital subsidiary SBI Investment.
Episode Six has created more than 550 application programming interfaces (APIs) and some 100 plug-ins that help banks and financial technology providers create customised digital financial products. It will use the series B cash to expand internationally, and across different financial markets.
Episode Six CEO John Mitchell said: “In the coming months, we will take our company to the next level by expanding our team and working closely with our current and future clients to satisfy their accelerated timelines and put into market the payments and financial products their customers demand.”
HSBC led a $7m series A round for the company in July 2020, investing together with Mastercard and SBI Investment. SBI’s FinTech Business Innovation Fund had provided an undisclosed sum three years before.
