Communications equipment maker Ericsson agreed yesterday to acquire one of its corporate venturing portfolio companies, US-based infrastructure management platform developer NodePrime, for an undisclosed cash sum.
NodePrime has built software that can analyse and automatically configure a data centre’s hardware platform, allowing it to transfer to a hyperscale infrastructure. It can also be integrated into Ericsson’s Hyperscale Datacenter System 8000 system.
The company will be incorporated into Ericsson’s Cloud & IP business unit. Anders Lindblad, head of Cloud & IP, said: “We at Ericsson continue to accelerate the creation of the software defined data centre market, to benefit our customers.
“NodePrime has unique talent and was a clear choice to bring inside Ericsson. We believe in innovation coming from the Silicon Valley area and will continue to increase our presence and distribution of such innovation.”
Ericsson was among the investors in NodePrime’s $7m series A round, announced in October 2015, participating alongside Formation 8, Menlo Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Initialized Capital, Crosslink Capital and TEEC Angel Fund.
