US based Cenx, a company that specifies in carrier ethernet interconnect systems and services has secured an investment from Ericsson, the Sweden-based provider of telecommunications equipment and data communication systems.
Ericsson joinred Cenx’s latest round, which was first revealed in June 2012, which originally raised $9.5m, led by the strategic venture capital arm of US phone operator Verizon, Verizon Investments.
Mesirow Financial Private Equity also participated in the funding and were joined by previous investors DCM and Highland Capital Partners. DMC and Highland led an undisclosed round of funding for Cenx in 2009. Wasatch and Cross Creek have also invested.
Co-founder and President of CENX Nan Chen said of the deal: “Ericsson and CENX have been working together extensively in the U.S and we are pleased with their strategic investment, this investment accelerates our existing joint efforts and opens the door to rapid global expansion together; we are excited about these new opportunities.”
As of 2012, Ericsson is the world’s largest telecommunications equipment maker.
