Canada-based network security services provider ESentire raised C$14m (US$12.7m) on Tuesday in a series C round that included Cisco Investments, the corporate venturing unit for networking technology company Cisco.
Georgian Partners, Edison Partners, VentureLink and Northleaf Venture Catalyst Fund, a joint initiative between Canadian institutional investors and the governments of Canada and Ontario, also participated.
ESentire protects against cybersecurity attacks and provides real-time threat detection. The new capital will be used to expand its technical capabilities, to hire additional staff and to expand its product into new sectors.
ESentire CEO J.Paul Haynes said: “It is great that such prominent investors are backing ESentire’s innovation vision that will enable us to remain a few steps ahead of the bad guys. In our Cambridge, Ontario research facility we are developing some of the most advanced forensic and threat detection capabilities available to the commercial sector giving them capabilities normally reserved for three letter agencies.”
The company raised US$7m in series B funding in July 2013 from Edison Ventures and VentureLink.
