Eta Compute eats up series C funding

Human interface technology provider Synaptics led a $12.5m series C round for US-based power processing chip developer Eta Compute yesterday, participating alongside undisclosed existing investors.

Eta Compute has developed artificial intelligence-based processing technology that enables internet-of-things devices to use battery energy more efficiently across years of operation.

Synaptics’ chief strategy officer, Satish Ganesan, will join Eta Compute’s board of directors in connection with the round, closed alongside a co-development and co-marketing partnership between them.

The company raised a total of $2m across three rounds in 2015 and 2016, according to securities filings. It then closed an $8m series A round in January 2018 that was led by Walden International and backed by Acorn Pacific Ventures and Walden Riverwood Ventures.

Eta Compute has not revealed details of its series B funding. Its other investors include microcontroller producer Abov Semiconductor and WRVI Capital, according to its website.
