Events.com, a US-based events platform backed by consumer products company Grace Beauty and law firm DLA Piper, closed a funding round yesterday that brought its total funding to more than $17m.
The round was led by venture finance provider Arctaris and featured family office La Jolla Holding and venture capital fund Moore Venture Partners. Concurrently, Events.com announced it has acquired online registration service EventsOnline for an undisclosed sum.
Events.com operates an online platform through which organisers can manage, market and monetise their events, while engaging with attendees and enabling users to share their experiences with others.
The funding will support continued growth and product development, as well as increased sales and marketing efforts. The company will also seek out more potential acquisitions.
Events.com previously received funding from Grace Beauty’s corporate venturing arm, Grace Beauty Capital, according to the latter’s website, though details have not been disclosed. Details about DLA Piper’s investment, which it conducted through its Venture Fund, also remain undisclosed.
The company’s other investors include Tomorrow Ventures, Burch Creative Capital, Wilson Sonsini Investment and Kal Terret, president of real estate firm Silverstein Properties.
Gregg Parise, CEO of Events.com, said: “Events.com is dedicated to providing a world class platform for event organisers and event goers alike. This additional funding is a great boost to the long-term growth of our company. We are pleased to work with Arctaris and we plan to use this funding to further expand operations.”
