Online photo network Everyme, backed by Crunchfund and seed accelerator Y Combinator, has raised a $2.15m series A round, led by China-based internet company Tencent, with participation from its existing angel investors.
Combined with its seed round, the California-based startup has now attracted a total of $3.65m. It successfully closed its seed round in October 2011, raising $1.5m in the process. Investors included Tencent, AOL’s Crunchfund, venture firms Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock Partners, and SV Angel, and angel investors former Facebook team member Dave Morin, Delicious CEO Joshua Schachter, Vivi Nevo, Wavii CEO Adrian Aoun, and Posterous founder Sachin Agarwal.
Everyme provides an “anti-viral” approach to sharing photos online, according to Everyme CEO Oliver Cameron. As opposed to rival photo-sharing networks such as Instagram, Facebook, or Tumblr, Everyme allows users to have a higher level of control over their photos, and who they share them with.
A similar startup, Quilt, launched a few weeks ago. It attracted $500k in its seed round, and included Facebook co-founder Andrew McCollum as one of its backers.
