Evive absorbs WiserTogether

US-based medical prescription comparison portal WiserTogether has been bought by company benefit oversight service Evive for an undisclosed sum, enabling pharmaceutical firm Merck & Co to exit.

Founded in 2008, WiserTogether runs an online platform where consumers can browse various medical treatments and make comparisons based on their cost-effectiveness and efficacy.

The platform applies context-driven data analytics to suggest medications based on symptoms, existing conditions and insurance claim history. It will be integrated with Evive’s digital health software suite, Evive Operating System, later this year.

WiserTogether had assembled a total of about $16.3m in equity and debt financing according to regulatory filings. Merck’s Global Health Innovation (GHI) Fund backed its $9m series B round in 2014 with Martin Ventures, Grotech Ventures, Harbert Venture Partners, 7Wire Ventures and Blue Heron Capital.

Securities ilings indicate the company subsequently raised an extra $3.6m in financing across three rounds in 2016 and 2017.
