The India-based specialist eye hospital chain Eye-Q secured an undisclosed amount of series B funding from venture capital (VC) fund Helion Venture Partners and VC firm Nexus Venture Partners on 10 October.
Eye-Q’s series A round in May 2010 was financed by Song Advisors, the investment firm funded by financier George Soros’ Economic Development Fund, search engine company Google and investment firm Omidyar Network.
Founded in 2007, currently operates 16 hospitals across North and West India and is aiming to use the capital to expand across the country. Rajat Goel, chief executive officer of Eye-Q, explained: "After the latest infusion of funds, Eye-Q will broad-base its operations for a national presence by spreading its wings to other regions across India."
