Israel-based embedded computer vision technology developer EyeSight Technologies raised $20m in funding on Wednesday from conglomerate Kuang-Chi.
Founded in 2005, EyeSight produces technology that adds touchless gesture control to consumer devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, televisions and virtual reality headsets. The company also offers an internet-of-things platform named Singlecue for the smart home.
The money will be used to support global growth. EyeSight and Kuang-Chi will also launch joint-initiatives in Hong Kong and China to bring EyeSight’s technology to other sectors, including touchless interfaces for cars and interactive robotics.
EyeSight received $4.2m in a 2011 series B round co-led by microprocessor maker Ceva and Mitsui & Co Global Investment, a corporate venturing subsidiary of conglomerate Mitsui, with existing angel investors also taking part.
The company secured $6.7m in a series B extension in 2013 according to deals database CrunchBase, however the claim is unsourced and the company has not released any supporting press release on its website. It raised $3.7m in funding prior to the series B round.
