Colin Fan, formerly co-head of investment banking at financial services firm Deutsche Bank, is set to join SoftBank Vision Fund, the $93bn investment vehicle run by telecommunications group SoftBank, the Financial Times has reported.
SoftBank is in the process of hiring executives to manage the fund and has worked closely with Deutsche Bank in the past, with Fan only the latest executive to join the corporate.
Vision Fund’s CEO Rajeev Misra, who was previously responsible for global credit and commodities at Deutsche Bank until 2008, was the executive who hired Fan. Misra topped 2017’s edition of the GCV Powerlist.
Fan has already relocated to California and will work at SoftBank’s office in San Carlos. He will reportedly be a managing director of Vision Fund, according to unnamed sources.
Fan joined Deutsche Bank in 1998 and climbed the corporate ladder under Anshu Jain, who was chief executive until 2015. After Jain was ousted and replaced by John Cryan, Fan was replaced in a management overhaul.
